Yesterday, New York City Councilman Tony Avella blasted the City’s Coney Island rezoning plan on WNYC’s “The Brian Lehrer Show.”

Earlier this month, Councilman Avella worked with Save Coney Island to introduce an amendment in the City Council’s zoning committee recommending that the city fix its plan by expanding the area for amusements and removing the proposed high-rise hotels.

Unfortunately, the committee rejected the proposal, despite the fact that it was based upon the recommendations of the respected Municipal Art Society, which were endorsed by The New York Times.
